Remote Technical Communication Research sponsored by the Provost Undergraduate Research Scholarship
My senior year of college I conducted research with Dr. Chad Wilson from the Cullen College of Engineering over the shifts in technical communications patterns caused by increased mediated communication since the beginning of the Coronavirus Pandemic. In this research project, I studied existing research on mediated communication and developed a survey to collect information about how professional communication has changed. I distribute this anonymous survey to as large an audience as possible. If you would like to support my work and take part in this brief survey, you can find the link here.
Thank you for participating! As many companies shift towards fewer in-office workers, the value of effective mediated and remote communication skills will only increase. Having an in-depth understanding of the differences, capabilities, and limitations of mediated versus face-to-face communication will be beneficial in maximizing the efficiency of my professional communication. My prior work experience has given me an insight into the challenges involved with remote communication and I am pursuing this research project as a way to strengthen this valuable aspect of my skillset.
