Online Telecommuting Hardware Engineering Internship with Hewlett Packard Enterprise
As a Hardware Engineering Intern for Hewlett Packard Enterprise, I experienced my first remote position. While the online format of this internship definitely came with its share of challenges, I consider the experience gained to be incredibly valuable. This online communication experience provided a first hand insight for the research I conducted the following year over professional remote communication.
One of the critical lessons I learned through working from home is the importance of establishing the priority level of different avenues of communication. In order to effectively communicate through mediated communication, we must understand how the person we are talking to views the different forms of communication. This internship provided ample opportunities to cope with rapidly the changing modern professional communication and I was very excited to explore and expand on those methods in my research the following semester.
