Communication / JJ Handywork
Self Employed Handyman and Small Business Owner
JJ Handywork began as a small lawn mowing business I created my freshman year of high school. Over the next several years, through improved technical skills and continuous advertising efforts, I expanded my business into something far beyond basic landscaping jobs. During the expansion of this business, I realized the value and the importance of my interpersonal skills. Effective communication enabled concise and time-efficient interactions with clients and ensured the design and execution of a project aligned with the client’s expectations. Additionally, confidence in my communication abilities allowed me to advertise my business at every available opportunity. I regularly attended networking events in San Marcos where I distributed business cards and showed off past projects, encouraging others to keep me in mind when someone they know needs work done. This early exposure to professional communication has been very beneficial in all of my work experience since. I began this business for the monetary benefits, but the experience gained has been truly invaluable.
